Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci celebrates with his family after prison release
YFN Lucci has been released from prison on Friday after almost four years.
On Friday, (January 31), Lucci was discharged from the Burress Correctional Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia. Lucci has been incarcerated since May 2021 on a RICO indictment.
The Atlanta rapper was originally arrested in connection with the January 2021 murder of his friend, James Adams who was shot and killed in Lucci’s car. The 33-year-old was behind the wheel during the drive-by shooting, which resulted in Adams’ death.
Back In May 2021, YFN Lucci was subsequently charged in a RICO indictment and arrested. Last January, the murder charge was dropped and Lucci pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act in connection to his racketeering case.
Lucci apologized to Adams’ family during a hearing. "First off, I wanna say my heart goes out to my friend, James Adams, and his family. Also, I wanna apologize to my family and my friends for putting them through this stressful process," he said. "I would also like to apologize to the court. That’s it."
In September, rumors swirled that Lucci had been killed in prison. However, his lawyer later confirmed the rapper was still alive and serving his sentence.
Lucci was among twelve suspects named in a 75-page, 105-count racketeering indictment focused on the Bloods street gang. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with his time in jail acting as time served.
