The Compton, California, rapper is offering 10 families shelter in an Airbnb affected by wildfires.
Residents had been ordered or warned to evacuate after the Sunset Fire broke out on Wednesday evening
The Game to cover Airbnb costs for 10 families affected by Nearly 200,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes as fires rip through L.A. County.
As several enormous blazes continued to burn down parts of the city, The Game is helping Los Angeles wildfire victims by offering ten families free Airbnb stays for a week. He announced on Wednesday (January 8) that he is helping to provide safety and shelter to families who have been forced to evacuate their homes.
“Me & [talent manager Travis Wilson] are helping 10 families effected [sic] by the fires here get into @airbnb for a week free of charge [praying hands emoji],” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
The Game then directed those interested to message Wilson on Instagram, adding: “Must have an identification or driver's license with an address in the affected areas.”
In addition to the emergency declaration, non-profits and humanitarian groups have started mobilizing in the greater Los Angeles area. Here are some of the organizations accepting donations for displaced residents and first responders.
The Wildfire Recovery Fund supports short- and long-term relief efforts targeted at underserved communities impacted by wildfires. The organization, which provides cash, food, shelter, and other basic needs, is accepting donations here.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is working is accepting food donations at its distribution centers as well as online donations. The organization is also seeking volunteers.
Baby2Baby aims to provide affected residents with diapers, formula, and other essentials for families in Los Angeles. You can donate to its emergency relief program here.
GoFundMe has created a Wildfire Relief Fund to support verified wildfire relief fundraisers. The fund will provide grants to humanitarian organizations and assist those directly affected by the fires.
The Pasadena Humane Society has taken in more than 300 animals affected by the fires and evacuations. In addition to sheltering services, the nonprofit provides emergency medical care to animals injured in the blazes. Click here to support the efforts.
