RiRi has reportedly pulled up to court to support A$AP Rocky during his gun assault trial, Rolling Stone Senior Reporter Nancy Dillon reports.
Rihanna makes first court appearance at the trial of her partner A$AP Rocky, as accuser testifies
The singer made an appearance in court in Los Angeles on Wednesday to support her partner ASAP Rocky, who is currently on trial for alleged assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
On Wednesday (January 29), Rihanna was seen alongside Rocky, with whom she shares two children, during a night out in the Los Angeles area.
Per Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon, Rihanna, though briefly expected to not be making an appearance on Wednesday after Rocky was seen entering court without her, was seated next to Rocky’s mother. SoCal-based independent repoter Meghann Cuniff, meanwhile, added that Rihanna was also sitting with Rocky's sister.
No videos of Rihanna’s appearance have surfaced yet. Court orders prevent the gallery from being shown on stream during the trial.
A$AP Rocky is being accused of firing a gun at ex-friend Terell Ephron, aka ASAP Relli. Police say the incident occurred in November 2021, with an LAPD press release shared the following April alleging that it began as “an argument between two acquaintances” in the Hollywood area.
The trial began on Jan. 21 with jury selection. A jury of seven men and five women has been assembled to decide whether or not Rocky is guilty of shooting A$AP Relli.
On day 2 of the trial, Relli testified against Rocky, and told the jury how Rocky pulled out a gun and threatened to kill him on that fateful night after their conversation turned physical.
"“[Rocky] pointed [the gun] at me," Relli said. “That's when [A$AP Illz] was in between. [Rocky] was like, 'I'll kill you right now, pu**sy.' ...I'm right behind [A$AP Illz] and I'm saying, 'If you brought a gun use it then. Like, what the f**k you brought a gun for?”
When asked to reveal where Rocky was pointing the gun, Relli responded, “Towards my stomach, toward my head-ish, a little...He was looking for a spot to shoot me.”
Rocky has been charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. After rejecting a plea deal that would have seen him serve 180 days in jail, the prosecution is now saying they will recommend a 10-to-12-year sentence if Rocky is convicted.
