Kobe Bryant gets his statue today on 2-8-24.
The Kobe Bryant's statue is finally set for unveiling by Los Angeles Lakers today.
Lakers unveiled the statue of the late Kobe Bryant on Thursday outside Crypto.com Arena.
The date of the ceremony — 2/8 — is symbolic. No. 2 was the jersey number of aspiring basketball player Gianna Bryant, and her father wore No. 8. The two and seven others were killed Jan. 26, 2020, in a helicopter crash.
The Lakers will officially reveal Bryant’s statue Thursday in a ceremony set to begin at 6 p.m. ET prior to the team’s game against the Denver Nuggets. The Bryant statue will be located at Star Plaza outside of Crypto.com Arena.
Kobe will be the seventh Lakers icon commemorated with a statue. He is joining Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Jerry West and Chick Hearn.
