Warriors’ star Klay Thompson return knocks down his first 3-pointer vs. Cavaliers on Sunday

Warriors star Klay Thompson makes his long-anticipated return in Golden State's matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night.

It's Klay Day: Thompson makes season debut for Golden State Warriors

The Warriors' other Splash Brother plays in his first NBA game since Game 6 of the 2019 Finals

It's been 175 games -- and two play-ins -- since the Warriors last had Klay Thompson, who tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. The five-time All-Star subsequently missed all of 2019-20, and, after suffering a torn Achilles in a pick-up game in November 2020, was sidelined the entire 2020-21 season as well. After missing the first 38 games of this season, Thompson finally return on Sunday (January 9), (941 days since he last played) at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Draymond Green fouled instantly after the tip, as he’s dealing with a calf injury. He only wanted to be on the floor to honor Thompson.

Klay Thompson wasted no time scoring his first NBA basket in more than two years.

Right away, after a Cavs bucket, Thompson drove through the lane and dropped in a layup to get the Warriors on the board.
