Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show sparks 125 FCC complaints.

125 complaints were filed with the FCC following Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl performance, which drew a record 133.5 million viewers.
Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance at Super Bowl LIX drew more than 120 complaints to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), with the majority objecting to the rapper’s language and some dubbing it “racist” because “not one white person” was seen onstage.
On Tuesday (March 25), TMZ reports, the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl halftime show drew 125 FCC complaints, mostly over inappropriate lyrics, provocative dance moves, and alleged anti-American themes. Some criticized the all-Black performers and a split American flag visual. About ten complaints focused on his shots at Drake, with one calling it a “personal vendetta.”
TMZ obtained all 125 complaints and revealed that at least 10 of them accused Lamar of "using his platform to go after his arch nemesis” by performing songs that dissed Drake, including the Grammy-winning smash hit “Not Like Us.” One complaint claimed that he used the performance to focus on a "personal vendetta.”
Other complaints “accused Kendrick of having a potty mouth, only using Black performers and being divisive with his set,” per TMZ.
Tennis legend Serena Williams also, who made a dancing cameo during the performance, drew the ire of some viewers. A complaint accused her of promoting "gang affiliation" for her famed celebratory dance.
In comparison, Rihanna's 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show resulted in just over 100 complaints to the FCC, while the 2020 Halftime Show featuring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira led to a whopping 1,300-plus complaints.
For Lamar, 125 out of 133.5 million is just a drop in the bucket.
