On Wednesday (Feb. 5.), TMZ, there is “no doubt” Kendrick Lamar will be performing “Not Like Us” at Super Bowl LIX, sources connected to Kendrick, the NFL, and Fox network.
According to TMZ, the NFL Network lawyers and executives are analyzing Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-winning Drake diss track Not Like Us for his upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance this Sunday.
Kendrick’s setlist is to be submitted to the NFL and FOX as they've all gathered in New Orleans in preparation for the big game. Wednesday is usually the day halftime show headliners unveil for the league what songs they plan to perform, TMZ reported. There is more focus on the set list this year because of Kendrick’s smash hit Not Like Us and the defamation lawsuit Drake filed against Universal Music Group over the song, which accused him of being a “certified pedophile.”
After the executives get the set list, they bring in the attorneys.
The “Not Like Us” diss song will go down as the biggest hit of Kendrick Lamar’s career. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 and took home five at this year's Grammy Awards. It's also sparked a lawsuit between Drake and the label both artists are embedded to (UMG) Universal Music Group. Drake cited defamation as a result of the song's more salacious claims. This legal quagmire has led some to question whether Kendrick Lamar will play the song during his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.
