The actor announces ‘What Had Happened Was:’ 3-night show in Atlanta to talk about health scare

Foxx announced on Instagram that he plans to talk about his April 2023 hospitalization in an “unforgettable” one-man show.

On Monday, (September 2), the Oscar winner revealed more details about his upcoming “unforgettable one-man show,” in which he will "[take] the stage to share his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart, and inspiration,” Foxx wrote on Instagram.

Titled One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx, the show will take place in Atlanta on three nights, from Oct. 3 through 5, with “ticket information coming soon.”

Foxx's Instagram post consisted of a black box with the words “WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS,” before going more into details about the show in his caption.

“Join us for an unforgettable one-man show as Jamie Foxx takes the stage to share his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart, and inspiration!” Foxx wrote of the show titled “WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS.”

The actor was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical complication last April.

Foxx was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical complication last April. A few months later, in August, he provided an update on Instagram, writing that he was “finally startin to feel like myself.”

In December, he made a surprise appearance at the Critics Choice Celebration of Cinema & Television event, where he looked back on his hospitalization, sharing that he has “a new respect” for his life and his art.

“I’ve been through some things,” he said. “You know, it’s crazy. I couldn’t do that six months ago. I couldn’t actually walk.”

"It feels good to be here," he continued. "I cherish every single minute now. It’s different. It’s beyond. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel. 'Shit. Am I going to the right place?'"

Foxx further explained how doctors treated him during his health scare.

"So they told me, I'm in Atlanta, they told me -- my sister and daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a Cortisone shot," he recalled. "The next doctor said there's something going on up there. I won't say it on camera."
