Dr. Dre to open new high school academy in Inglewood, California


The legendary Compton producer new academy high school will initially be available to ninth grade students and will eventually expand to all grades by the 2028-29 school year.

Dr. Dre is launching a new high school academy in Inglewood next summer.


The music mogul, Dr. Dre, Jimmy lovine are opening a new high school in California, the hip-hop mogul's second academy in two years.


The Los Angeles news channel Fox 11 News announces that the hip-hop moguls have launched the Iovine Young Center Academy at Morningside High School in Inglewood, Calif. The school will be a part of the Inglewood Unified School District starting next summer.


According to Fox 11, the school is advertised as having, "cutting edge, interdisciplinary curriculum aimed at training young leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs." The school slated to close at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.


Will start with ninth-grade students next summer with plans to expand to all grades by the 2028-29 school year.

The new academy will be located at 120 W. Regent after the district closes Crozier Middle School.


The project is billed as being in coordination with Inglewood Unified School District which announced five school closures, including Crozier, earlier this year.
