Swizz Beatz executive produced and produced the posthumous record, which is being released by Def Jam.

New DMX Album Exodus Announced

On Monday (May 10), one month after X's passing, the rapper's label Def Jam announced via Twitter that the Yonkers, N.Y. MC's last album, Exodus, is coming out this month.

The release date for DMX’s posthumous album Exodus was revealed. On the rapper’s Instagram account, a photo of the cover art — an image of X’s scripture-based “Exodus 1:7” tattoo — was shared alongside the date on which the highly anticipated album is slated to drop: May 28. A post from the Ruff Ryders also confirmed the news as well as one from Swizz Beatz, who talked to the cohosts of Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” about what fans should expect.

“The album is a masterpiece. It’s not a regular tone,” said the Verzuz cofounder.

Swizz Beatz will be executive producing the LP. “My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met," Swizzy said in a statement. "He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”
